Abhijith A. V. (Honors Student, 2019-2020)
Abhijith studied the effect of different agricultural practices (Organic Vs Zero Budget) in coffee plantations on frogs in Wayanad, Kerala. He also studies the mechanisms of coexistence among bush frogs in Waynad. He is also a very good naturalist and has published his observations on the breeding habits of some of the bush frogs (see Abhijith and Mukherjee 2020). Abhijith recently finished his Masters degree from the NCBS.

Malay Pandey (Honors Student, 2019-2020)
Malay studied habitat selection decisions of field cockroaches in response to food availability and predation risk (Scorpions and Spiders). The scorpion species he worked on turned out to be a species new to science (see our publication). A passionate snake catcher, Malay is now pursuing his Masters degree at Ben-Gurion University, Israel.

Michell Evans (PhD Candidate, University of Georgia)
Michelle was a visitor in my lab between July 2019 - December 2019. During this time she was studying the effect of urbanization on mosquito community. Additionally, she was also trying to understand sociology of access to water in peri-urban villages near Bangalore, in the context of vector borne disease. Michelle successfully defended her PhD thesis in 2020. Anuradha Batabyal (Post-Doctoral researcher, August 2018 - Jan 2019)
Anuradha previously worked with Dr. Anindita Bhatacharya and me on a longitudinal study that measured stress (psychological and physiological) among new undergraduate students. Later, as a National Post Doctoral Fellow in my lab, she worked on signaling in foot flagging frogs. Anuradha is now an Assistant Professor at Flame University, Pune Siddharth Bhatnagar (Research Assistant) Siddharth, a graduate in Physics from Azim Premji University, is working with Michelle Evans, to understand the effects of urbanization on mosquito community. His people skills and knowledge of Kannada is instrumental in this project. Siddharth is pursuing his masters degree in Astronomy at University of Zurich. Anushka Kale (Honors Student, 2018-2019) Anushka is interested in Conservation Biology. For her honors research she worked on the behaviour of Sarus cranes in the agricultural fields near Baroda, Gujarat. She was co-advised by Dr. Jatinder Kaur. Anushka is currently studying at Ashoka University in the Young India Fellowship Program. Indu Periodi (Honors Student, 2018-2019)
Indu studied population dynamics of Aedes mosquitoes in Hosahalli village, a Peri-urban area on the outskirts of Bangalore. She also conducted questionnaire survey for understanding the knowledge, attitude and practice about mosquitoes and mosquito borne diseases among villagers. Indu recently finished her Masters from TERI. Deepak Arvind Chavan (Honors Research Student, 2017-2018) Deepak conducted mesocosm experiments to understand the effect of terrestrial leaf litter on the life-history traits of Microhyla ornata tadpoles. He finished his Masters degree from SACON in 2020. Deepak is currently working as a lab associate at Azim Premji University. |
Moa Zachariah (Honors Research Student, 2017-2018)
Moa reviewed the literature on the indirect effect of pesticides on amphibians, and its policy implications in the context of India. He is interested in Conservation Biology and Policy. Currently he is pursuing a Masters degree at SOAS University of London |
Aparna Krishnan (Undergraduate Intern, 2015-2016)
Aparna conducted some preliminary experiments on how leaf litter affects bacterial colony. She finished her Masters degree in Wildlife from the National Center for Biological Sciences Bangalore in 2020. Shivani Ronanki (APU, Undergraduate Intern 2015-2016): Shivani helped out with monthly mosquito sampling. Shivani finished her Masters degree at Lund University in 2021. Anisha Jayadevan (M.Sc. student, National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bangalore)
Anisha successfully defended her thesis in October 2016. Anisha studied the effect of bush encroachment on nocturnal rodents in Banni Grasslands of Gujarat. Her work was published in the Journal of Arid Environment. Anisha is now pursuing her PhD degree from University of Maryland. Angelique Lazarus (Honors Student, 2014) For her Honors research, Angelique studied diversity of small mammals (rodents) in New Germany nature reserve (a peri-urban nature reserve), Durban city, South Africa. |
